Elizabeth Ann York

Elizabeth Ann Duke York, 71, of Asheboro, died Saturday, July 28, 2018 at The Randolph Hospice House in Asheboro. Funeral services will be conducted at 4:00 p.m., Thursday, August 2, 2018 at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel, Asheboro, with Pastor Doug Davis officiating. A native of Randolph County, NC, Mrs. York was born January 28, 1947, the daughter of the late Ernest Lee Duke, Sr. and Ila Mae Hurley Duke. She had work at Klaussner Furniture in Asheboro and Michael Thomas Furniture in Liberty. Elizabeth was a beloved mother. She was what most call the world's best mother and yes, we are partial. She married at a young age to our father and even at such a young age, she was just designed to be an extraordinary mother. She had a heart of gold. She devoted her life to her eight children. She often times would work two jobs to provide what they needed. She was always a hard worker and very independent. One of her many good qualities was her sense of humor. No matter the circumstances or the situation, she would always find the humor in it and put a smile on her face and others. She was a source of strength for us all. She was steadfast and an honest person. She would tell it to you straight and was always fair. She loved all of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren unconditionally. She had a bond with her sister that was so special to watch their interactions. They would always have a good time. She would light up when any of us entered the room. She was a precious gem. A rare find and a true treasure to have in your life. No matter how you know Elizabeth, or to some, Lib, she would leave a bright mark on your heart. She is unforgettable and she will truly be missed. We will forever hold you in our hearts. In addition to her parents, Mrs. York was preceded in death by her husband, Garland York and her brother, Ernest Lee Duke, Jr. Surviving are her daughters, Donna Allred and husband, Mark, Bobbie Cranford and husband, Jackie, Cynthia York, Crystal Lineberry; sons, Terry York, Dwayne York and wife, Georgie, Garland Layzella York, Jr., Craig York and wife, Angela; sister, Lila Gunn and husband, Larry; grandchildren, Kaci Davenport and husband, Adam, Candace Pes and husband, Carlo, Travis Cranford, Angela Cranford, Ryan Allred and wife, Megan, Alex Thompson, Alexis Thompson, Gavin York, Izaiah York, Chasity York, Caleb York, Christian Staples, Brandon Davis, Hunter Apple, Haven Apple, Amanda Cornstubble, Jessica Cornstubble; great-grandchildren, Kyleigh York, Layla York, Mattia Pes, Taylor Duckworth, Aiden Cranford, Avalon Cranford, Summer Cranford, Holden Collins, Cameron Cranford, Aaleal Cranford, Brady Allen Davenport; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 1, 2018 at Ridge Funeral Home.
