Edna Brown Sams was called to heaven, Sunday, December 24, 2023, while at Hospice Haven in Rockingham, NC.
Edna was born May 18, 1937, in Chatham County, NC., daughter of the late Ethan and Swannie Hayes Brown. While residing in Denton for many years, Edna and her family lived in the Asheboro community for most of her life. Edna worked as a seamstress and retired from Klaussner’s Furniture of Asheboro. She enjoyed attending Sunday services at First Baptist Church in Denton, NC. Her family fondly remember Edna to be an amazing cook and an enthusiastic flea market shopper. Edna was well known in her community; she was loved and cherished by her friends and neighbors.
In addition to her parents, Edna Brown Sams is preceded in death by her loving husband, Larn David Sams; and son, David Wayne Sams.
She is survived by her daughter, Shelby Turpin and her husband David, and her daughter, Donna Jackson and her husband Danny. Edna was also a loving grandmother to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 4:00 p.m., December 28, 2023, at Ridge Funeral Home in Asheboro, and from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m., Friday, December 29, 2023, at Pleasant Grove Christian Church in Bennett. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the church, with Pastor Don Edwards officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
