Edna F. Overcash

Mrs. Edna Virginia Faggart Overcash, 93, of Concord, NC, died Friday, October 7, 2011, at her residence. A funeral service is scheduled for 2:00 pm Wednesday, October 12, 2011, at Parkwood Baptist Church, where she was a member, with Rev. Darrell Coble officiating. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park in Concord. A native of Cabarrus County, NC, Mrs. Overcash was born July 7, 1918. She was the daughter of the late William Harry Faggart and Carrie Overcash Faggart. Since her mother died when Edna was 3 years old, she was raised by her father and stepmother, the late Zannie S. Faggart. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed traveling. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Ray Overcash, and grandson, Kevin Helms. Mrs. Overcash is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Helms and husband, Ervin, of Kannapolis, NC; son, Harry Overcash and wife, Patricia, of Hudson, CO; sister, Betty Cline, of Concord, NC; Grandchildren, Robert C. Overcash, Rayna Overcash, and Lindsey H. Koury; and 5 Great Grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 12:30pm - 1:45pm Wednesday, October 12, 2011, at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Parkwood Baptist Church, 1069 Central Drive, Concord, NC 28027; or to Hospice and Palliative Care of Cabarrus County, 5003 Hospice Lane, Kannapolis, NC 28081.
