Mrs. Edna Grace Parsons Cox, 88, of Franklinville, NC, went on to Glory on Tuesday, November 8, 2011, at 11:00 pm, at her residence. A celebration of her life is scheduled for 11:00 am Monday, November 14, 2011, at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Harold Bumby and Chaplain Rodney Otwell officiating. Burial will follow at Randolph Memorial Park in Asheboro, NC. A native of Guilford County, NC, Mrs. Cox was born July 5, 1923. She was the daughter of the late Ernest Upton Parsons and Loucena Almeda Johnson Parsons. Edna worked at Sears in Greensboro, NC, and after retirement, enjoyed working with her husband at campgrounds in Long Beach, NC, and Fancy Gap, VA. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren and all of her family. Edna always loved gardening, flowers, crocheting and playing games. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Cox was preceded in death by her brothers, Owen Parsons and James Parsons, formerly of Candor, NC. Mrs. Cox is survived by her loving husband, Lawrence Cox, of Maple Grove Health and Rehabilitation; daughter, Carol Cox Allred, and husband, Gurney Allred, of the home; son, Donald Alvin Cox, and wife, Cheryl Cox, of Liberty, NC; grandchildren, Amanda Allred, of Randleman, NC, Cheryl Allred Posten, and husband, Thomas Eric Posten, of Randleman, NC, D. J. Cox, of Liberty , NC; great grandchildren, Nicholas Allred , Thomas Eric Posten, II, Jacob Cole Posten, Bethany Lee Posten, all of Randleman , NC; sisters, Dorothy White, of Waynesville, NC, Edith Cooke, of Lexington, SC; sister-in-law, Ina Parsons, of Candor, NC; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm Sunday, November 13, 2011, at Ridge Funeral Home and other times at the home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Randolph Cancer Center Patient Assistance Fund, 373 North Fayetteville Street, Asheboro, NC 27203. The family would like to give a special thank you to Mrs. Wanda Stanford, Mrs. Rhonda Bloom, Mrs. Lena Troxwood and Mrs. Kathleen Brown, for the love and care shown to Edna through the last few years. You all will keep a special place in our hearts! We also want to thank Wendy Smith, Julie Leonard, Wendy Medley and Rodney Otwell with Hospice of Randolph County. Your love and support made a wonderful impact.
