Edith Rebecca Ward Graves, 82, of Asheboro, died Monday, January 4, 2021 at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital in Greensboro. Funeral service will be conducted at 10:00 a.m., Friday, January 8, 2021, at Pleasant Hill Primitive Baptist Church, with Elder Steven Nichols officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. A native of Guilford County, Edith was born on September 5, 1938, to the late Jefferson Gideon Ward and Belva Bessie Mitchell Ward. In addition to her parents, Edith was preceded in death by her sisters, Iris Holt, Betty Ward Swaim, Coleen Miller; and grandson, Jake Graves. Surviving are her daughter, Rebecca Jo Owens and husband Jimmy of Trinity; son, Jimmy Graves and wife Sherry of Asheboro; and many friends. Ms. Graves will lie in state from 1:00 until 4:00 p.m. Thursday, January 7, 2021, at Ridge Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to her son, Jimmy Graves, for help with his liver transplant; 5825 US Hwy 64 West, Asheboro, NC 27205.
