Earl Ward

Rev. Alec Earl Ward, 72, of Seagrove, died Friday, March 23, 2018 at Randolph Health in Asheboro. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Monday, March 26, 2018 at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel, Asheboro, with Rev. Greg Williamson officiating. Burial will follow at New Hope Memorial Gardens. Born in Smiithfield, NC on October 13, 1945, Rev. Ward was the son of the late Garcie Ward and Cora Lee Ward. Rev. Ward was an ordained minister with the Church of God for 33 years, 29 years being served at Big Oak Church of God in Star. He attended Heartfelt Ministries. He enjoyed fishing, playing the harmonica, and watching sports, especially when his grandchildren were playing. In addition to his parents, Rev. Ward was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Logan Castlebury; sister, Elizabeth Branch; and brothers, Cecil Ward, Clayton Ward, and Charles Ward. Surviving are wife, Beverly Lee Ward of the home; daughters, Amy Ward Castlebury and husband, Bunn, Lori Ward Asbill and husband, Craig all of Seagrove; son, Jonathan Ward and wife Dana of Asheboro; sister, Lois Elmore and husband, Ottis of Dunn; brothers, Ray Ward, Bobby Ward both of Smithfield, Eugene Ward and wife, Martha of Star; grandchildren, Lauren Castlebury Jarrell and husband Conner, Lindsay Castlebury, Celeste Asbill, Seth Asbill, Samuel Asbill, Gracie Ward, Carly Ward, Ryland Ward, Jett Ward; and great grandchild, Layla Humphrey. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Sunday, March 25, 2018 at Ridge Funeral Home and other times at the home.
