Douglas Ray Griffin

Mr. Douglas Ray Griffin, 70, of Asheboro, NC, died Sunday, August 7, 2011, at Carillon Assisted Living. A funeral service is scheduled for 11:00 am Tuesday, August 9, 2011, at Neighbor's Grove Wesleyan Church with Rev. Doug Dennis, Rev. Randy Haithcock officiating. Burial will follow at Randolph Memorial Park in Asheboro. Doug was born in Mt. Airy, NC, where he graduated from Mt. Airy High School. He attended Appalachian College and Northern Hospital Surry County Lab School. He worked as a Lab Technician at Randolph Hospital for 17 years. Then for United American Insurance until due to sickness he had to retire. Doug was a member of Neighbor's Grove Wesleyan Church. He served in many different areas teaching, singing and as a board member. Doug had a great passion for the Wesleyan Men Chapter of the church, where he served in all areas many years. Doug was preceded in death by his parents, Grover and Lois Griffin, and his brother, Tony. Mr. Griffin is survived by his wife, Patricia Pridgen Griffin, of the home; daughter, Sharon Camp and husband, Len, of Franklinville, NC; son, Brian Griffin and wife, Kim, of Morganton, NC, sister, Teresa Marion and husband, Dean, of Mt. Airy, NC; grandchildren, Laura and Alisha Camp, Matthew, Zack, Erin and Kristi Griffin; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 9:30 am - 10:45 am Tuesday, August 9, 2011, at Neighbor's Grove Wesleyan Church and other times at the home.
