Dorothy "Dot" Louise Swaney Smith, 83, of Asheboro, NC, died Saturday, April 15, 2017 at The Randolph Hospice House in Asheboro. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 18, 2017, at Rushwood Park Wesleyan Church, Asheboro, where she was a member. Officiating will be Dr. Brent Tysinger. Burial will follow at Randolph Memorial Park, Asheboro. Born October 13, 1933, Mrs. Smith was a native of Randolph Co., NC, the daughter of the late Nume and Elma McDowell Swaney. She had worked at Acme-McCrary Corp. and had retired from Randolph Hospital. She was a loving mother and wife and was know by others as "Aunt Dot." In addition to her parents, Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her husband, Ollie E. Smith. Survivors include her daughters, Robin Smith Cuervo and husband, Charlie, Kimberly Smith Canter, all of Asheboro, Tammie Smith Hughes and husband, Neal, of Randleman, Wendy Smith Arnold, of Columbia, SC; son, Heath Smith and wife, Shellie, of Asheboro; grandchildren, Mark Smith, Rebekah Canter, both of Asheboro, Kevin Arnold, Nicholas Arnold, both of New York; great-grandchild, Markus Smith, of Asheboro,sisters, Faye Tyndall, Mary Lou Perry; and brothers, Larry Swaney, Jim Swaney, J.D. Swaney. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday, April 17, 2017, at Ridge Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Asheboro. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Randolph, P.O.
