Dorothy Marie King, 87, of Asheboro, passed away Sunday, February 12, 2023, at TerraBella Asheboro.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, February 16, 2023, at Freedom Baptist Church, Asheboro, with Pastor Tim Hall officiating. Burial will follow at Randolph Memorial Park.
Dorothy was born on November 8, 1935, in Randolph County to the late William and Hattie Imper Cole. She retired from Asheboro City Schools. She was a member of Fayetteville Street Baptist Church where she was both a teacher and a Sunday school teacher. Dorothy loved making pottery and was the owner of "Dot's Pots".
In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her brothers, Earl Cole, Warren Cole, Garland Cole, Norman Cole; sister, Eunice Gee, and Evelyn Williamson.
She is survived by her daughter, Cindy Craft (Roy) of Asheboro; son, Bobby King (Teresa) of Chesapeake, VA; sisters, Opal Ingram (Bob) of Salisbury, Ruby Jean Redding of Salisbury, Agnes Nixon of Asheboro; grandchildren, Maria Hall (Tim) of Mt. Airy, Bobbie Chriscoe (Patrick) of Seagrove; great grandchildren, Arabella Hall, Adaleah Hall, Luke Chriscoe, Dylon Chriscoe (Magan); great-great grandchildren, Nellie Chriscoe, and Dalson Chriscoe.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. Thursday at the church prior to the service.
