Dorothy "Miss Dot" Hood Johnson, 87, of Asheboro, died Saturday, December 2, 2017 at Carteret Health Care in Morehead City. Funeral Services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 5, 2017 at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel, Asheboro, with Rev. Jason Bowser officiating. Burial will follow at New Hope Memorial Gardens. Born on March 13, 1930 in Wilson County, NC, Mrs. Johnson was the daughter of the late William Thomas Hood and Martha Carrie Wiggins Hood. She worked in food services at Randolph Hospital for 17 years. Mrs. Johnson was a member of Church of God of Prophecy in Ramseur. She enjoyed cooking, baking and sewing. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by her husband, Luke Johnson and her brother, Vernon Hood. Surviving are her sons, Thomas Johnson and wife, Carol of Asheboro, David Johnson and wife, Alice of Durham, Greg Johnson and wife, Marilyn of Asheboro, Chris Johnson and wife, Margaret of Beaufort; eight grandchildren; and thirteen great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 12:00 to 1:45 p.m., Tuesday, prior to the service at Ridge Funeral Home.
