Dorothy Ashworth

Dorothy Lee Kennedy Ashworth, 89, of Asheboro, NC, died Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at Clapp's Convalescent Nursing Home in Asheboro. Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, October 1, 2017, at Asbury Baptist Church, Seagrove with Rev. Wayne Bryson and Rev. Frank Barrett officiating. Burial will follow at Union Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Born December 14, 1927 in Randolph County, Mrs. Ashworth was the daughter of the late George and Mishie Owens Kennedy. She was retired from Kayser Roth Corporation. Mrs. Ashworth was a lifelong member of Asbury Baptist Church. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by sisters, Margie Latham, Lena Davis; and brothers, Billy Kennedy and George "Junior" Kennedy. Survivors include her daughter, Cheryl Dean Hunt and husband, Jim of Boone; son, Jerold Ashworth and wife, Janice of Asheboro; sister-in-law, Joann Stiles; grandchildren, Richard Wayne Hunt, Jesse Warren Hunt, Anna Leigh Eller, Patrick Lambe and Sonya Smith; ten great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. The family will receive friends from 2:00 - 3:00 p.m. Sunday, prior to the service at the Asbury Baptist Church and other times at the home of her son.
