Doris Smith

Doris Helen Vickory Smith, 80, of Randleman, died Monday, October 9, 2017 at her home. Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 11, 2017, at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Wayne Eller officiating. Burial will follow at Level Cross United Methodist Church Cemetery. Born March 5, 1937 in Davidson County, Mrs. Smith was the daughter of the late Charlie and Pauline Kennedy Vickory. She was a homemaker. Mrs. Smith loved her family, her pets, and her savior, Jesus Christ. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Gladys Coble; and dog, Bebe. Survivors include her husband, James Ray "Jim" Smith of the home; daughters, Terri Coleman of Greensboro, Nancy Hinshaw and husband, Brandon of Level Cross; son, Marty Ray Joyce and wife, Lynda of Level Cross, Karl David Joyce and wife, Jill of Climax, James Michael Smith of the home; grandchildren, Melissa Sawyer (Scott), Rebecca Shives, Derek Joyce (Christina), Daniel Joyce, Jason Monnett; and great-grandchildren, Gabriella Joyce, Ava Joyce, Austin Sawyer, Andy Sawyer, Kylie Joyce, Jackson Joyce, She is also survived by her beloved pets including her horse, Texas Bang Up; and dogs, Molly, Macy and Emma. The family will receive friends from 2-3 p.m. Wednesday, prior to the service at Ridge Funeral Home. The family would like to express our sincerest thanks to Randolph Health Cancer Center.
