Doris Rickhoff, 91 years, of Asheboro, NC, passed away on Wednesday, June 22, 2011. Service to be held 11:00 am Thursday, June 30, 2011, at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel, 908 Albemarle Road, Asheboro, NC 27203, Phone 336-626-2115. A private burial will be held later at Los Osos Memorial Park in California. She was born on January 23, 1920, in Denver, Colorado, to Theodore and Florence Jacobs. Doris was a high school graduate and continued with a scholarship to a private business school. She later moved in 1948 to the U.S. Naval Weapons Center at China Lake, California, with her husband, James G. Rickhoff. She then worked as a secretary at Michelson Laboratory for 12 years and for the China Lake School District for 10 years until retirement. Doris lived in China Lake for 25 years, in Los Osos for 17 years, in San Luis Obispo for five years, then to the Banning area for 15 years, and to Asheboro for 4 months. Doris loved to square dance, china paint, crochet, embroider, and write poetry. She tutored adults to read through the "�Laubach' Program, and was Secretary for her National Association for her district of Retired Federal Employees. Doris will be forever loved and remembered by her daughter, Patricia (Dennis) Kehiaian; son-in-law, John Dunaway; grandchildren, Lisa (Mike) Haggett, Scott (Sandy) Kehiaian, Darren (Cindy) Dunaway, Brandon (Kelli) Dunaway, nine great grandchildren, nieces and nephew, Darcy (Alex) Johnson, Brett (Anastasia) Halpin, and Nancy (Eric) Brown. She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 68 years, James G., and her beautiful daughter, Marilyn L. Doris touched the lives of many people with her loving and caring ways. She will be forever missed. We were all blessed to have known her, and felt her love.
