Doris Cheek Mccall

Doris Cheek McCall, 80, of Asheboro, died Tuesday, April 5, 2016 at her home. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, April 9, 2016, at Greater St. John's Baptist Church, with Rev. Joseph F. Kearns officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Born September 28, 1935, Mrs. McCall was the daughter of the late Millard and Esther Cheek. She had worked at Acme-McCrary, Carillon Assisted Living and several other facilities as a CNA. Mrs. McCall was a member of Greater St. John's Baptist Church and she loved to cook. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John McCall and her granddaughter, Michelle McCall. Mrs. McCall is survived by her daughter, Averia Johnetta Person of Asheboro; sons, Dwight "Jazz" Highland and wife, Deborah, of Staley, John Myron McCall of Florence, SC; grandchildren, Tonya Goodwin and husband, Brandon, Chandra Nettles, LaToya Letterlough, Damon Person; godchildren, Kathy Coble, Mamie Rogers; and nine great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 12:00 until 1:00 p.m., Saturday, at the church, prior to the service and other times at the home.
