Doris Marie Overton Icenhour of Cosby, Tennessee passed away peacefully at Randolph Hospice House on Thursday, June 19, 2025.
Doris was born on May 3, 1945 in Randolph County to Walter and Leona Overton. Doris was a loving and devoted wife to her husband “Ike.” She was a loving Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, and friend. When she and Ike got married they went to Gatlinburg on their Honeymoon and they fell in love with the Great Smoky Mountains. Eventually, they moved from Goldsboro, NC and made Tennessee their home. Doris worked at DollyWood for 10 years until she retired. She had a love for trying new recipes and sharing the delicious dishes with her friends and family. Everyone loved her bannana pudding and looked forward to her Christmas treats that she gave out each year. She took pride in her yard with her beautiful flowers and harvesting vegetables from her garden. She always kept her hummingbirds fed and enjoyed watching them. On Friday nights you could find her with her friends at Indian Camp Creek Resort playing BINGO. On her last trip home to Tennessee, she had a wonderful time at the dinner with her friends and even won the jackpot playing BINGO. Though we will miss her fiery spirit, contagious smile, funny sense of humor, and caring heart, we take comfort in knowing that she is at peace and reunited with “Ike” again.
She was proceeded in death by her husband and the love of her life Ronald Lee “Ike” Icenhour, her parents Walter and Leona Overton, and her sister Frances Overton .
She is survived by her daughter, Tammy and husband Doug White; stepdaughter Udenia Icenhour; her beautiful grandchildren Hayley and husband Brad Hurley, Hannah White, and Cameron Icenhour; great grandchildren, Braxton and Hazel Hurley; sister, Mae and husband Larry York, along with countless others whose lives she touched with her love and laughter.
A Celebration of Life will be held on July 12, 2025 at 1:00 pm at Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church Fellowship Hall. You are warmly invited to bring your favorite covered dish as we enjoy lunch and honor her and cherish the memories of her loves.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations Hospice of Randolph County 416 Vision Drive Asheboro, NC 27205. The family would like to thank the Randolph Hospice House for their outpouring love and care that they gave her in her final days.
