Donald Edwards

Donald Wesley Edwards, 68, of Asheboro, died Monday, July 11, 2016 at his home. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, July 14, 2016, at Hilltop Baptist Church with Rev. Joe Brown and Rev. Cliff Vanvliet officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors provided by the Randolph County Honor Guard. A native of Randolph County, Mr. Edwards was born June 5, 1948. He attended Hilltop Baptist Church. He loved hunting and fishing. Mr. Edwards served in the U.S. Marines during the Vietnam Conflict. Mr. Edwards was preceded in death by his father, Roy Wesley Edwards; and brother, Roy Wesley, Jr. He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Edwards of the home; daughter, Ronda Welsh and husband, Robert of Asheboro; stepdaughters, Susan Conner and husband, Junior of Southport, Nancy Presnell of the home; son, Roy Edwards and wife, Carmen of Asheboro; mother, Stella Edwards of Asheboro;, sisters, Betty Mann Grubb of Laurens, SC, Dorothy Richardson and husband, Daniel of Asheboro; 15 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at Ridge Funeral Home and other times at the home.
