Donald Cox

Donald Lynn Cox, 61, of Asheboro went home to be with the Lord, Saturday, March 16, 2019 at his residence. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 22, 2019, at Cross Road Baptist Church, Asheboro, with Pastor Johnny Henderson and Reverend Gary Mason officiating. Burial will follow at Randolph Memorial Park. Mr. Cox was born in Norfolk, VA, on March 1, 1958. He worked in construction, at Klaussner Furniture and later at Southwestern Randolph High School. He loved sports, car racing, and tinkering with cars. He was a good Christian, and was a member of Cross Road Baptist where he did a lot of work and sang in the choir. He was well known with the Republican Party and very involved with the Randolph Co. Republican Head Quarters. Mr. Cox was preceded in death by his mother, Shirley Lynn Martin Cox. Surviving are his wife Vera Mae Cox, of the home; step daughters, Sharon A. Grose and her husband, Mark, of Franklinville, Darla Stovall and her husband, Derrick, of Siler City; step son, William Allred and his wife, Lucy, of Asheboro; father, Ray Cox, of Asheboro; sisters, Debra Collins and her husband Keith, of Johnson City, TN, Susan James, of Johnson City, TN, Lori Ratcliff, of Johnson City, TN; brother, Mark Cox and his wife, Sheila, of Asheboro; several nieces and nephews; step grandchildren, Steven Grose and his wife Beth, Daniel Allred, Sarah Doss and her husband, David, Carolyn Spillman and her husband, Andy, and Justin Grose. The family will receive friends at Ridge Funeral Home 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 21, 2019, and other times at the home.
