Donald Chapman

Donald Ellis Chapman, Sr., 78, of Asheboro, NC, died Thursday, November 26, 2015 at Woodland Hill Center in Asheboro. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, November 29, 2015, at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel, Asheboro, with Preacher Jimmy Maness officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Gilead United Methodist Church Cemetery, Sophia. A native of Russell County, VA, Mr. Chapman was born August 1, 1937, the son of the late Henry and Carlie Boyd Chapman. He was of the Holiness faith. He was retired from Smith & Shore Service Station and was a volunteer driver for Social Services of Randolph County. In addition to his parents, Mr. Chapman was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Ruby Luck Chapman. Survivors include his daughters, Tamara C. McCurry, of Asheboro, Sherry C. Fain, of Trinity; sons, Donnie Chapman, Jr., of Charlotte, Jimmy Chapman, Danny Chapman, both of Asheboro, Ronnie Chapman, of Denton, Robbie Chapman, of Randleman; brothers, Bobby Joe Chapman, of Thomasville, Roger Chapman, of Pleasant Garden, Lewis Chapman, of Taylorsville, Bernard Chapman, Sr., of High Point; eighteen grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
