Dewey J. Cheek

Dr. Dewey Junior Cheek, 68, of Asheboro, NC, died Wednesday, May 2, 2012, at Kindred Hospital. A funeral service is scheduled for 2:00 pm Sunday, May 6, 2012, at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Flag Springs United Methodist Church Cemetery in Asheboro. A native of Alamance County, NC, Dr. Cheek was born August 15, 1943. He was the son of the late John Dewey Cheek and Rainy Rosetta Norman Cheek. He was a pastor at Golden Gate Baptist Church and a member of the Ulah Volunteer Fire Department and the Pinecroft-Sedgefield Volunteer Fire Department. In addition to his parents, Dr. Cheek was preceded in death by his brothers, Carl Cheek and Pvt. Roger Dale Cheek. Dr. Cheek is survived by his wife of 48 years, Brenda "Nanny"� Cheek, of the home; daughter, Annette Williamson and husband, Randy, of Lexington, NC; son, Jon Cheek, of Asheboro, NC; sisters, Icy Mae Carter, Glenda Faye Medley and husband, Bobby, Carlene Frances Emerson, all of Asheboro, NC; brothers, John Issac Cheek and wife, Cecile, of Houston, TX, Dolly Gene Cheek and wife, Faye, of Greensboro, NC; grandchildren, Daniel, Brandi and Wade, Zach, Zander; great grandchildren, Tyler and Brice. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm Saturday, May 5, 2012, at Ridge Funeral Home and other times at the home.
