Devoy "Bum" Hoover

Mr. Harold Devoy "Bum" Hoover, 83, of Asheboro, NC, died Thursday, September 1, 2011, at his residence. A funeral service is scheduled for 2:00 pm Sunday, September 4, 2011, at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Danny Outen officiating. Burial will follow at Randolph Memorial Park in Asheboro. A native of Randolph County, Mr. Hoover was born April 21, 1928. He was the son of the late Jule and Emma Pierce Hoover. He was a member of West Chapel United Methodist Church, retired owner and operator of a sawmill, and a farmer. Mr. Hoover served in the US Army during the Korean War. Mr. Hoover is survived by his wife, Connie Maness Hoover, of the home; daughter, Janet Hoover Mintz and husband, Greg, of Asheboro, NC; granddaughter, Tina Mintz Hiskett, of Seagrove, NC; great grandchildren, Barrett Hiskett, and Emma Hiskett. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm Saturday, September 3, 2011, at Ridge Funeral Home and other times at the home. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Randolph, P.O.
