John Dempsey Hulin, 89, of Asheboro, died Saturday, January 20, 2018 at his home. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 24, 2018, at Bethel Friends Meeting, Asheboro. Officiating will be Pastor Todd Brown. Burial will follow in the meeting's cemetery. A native of Alamance Co., Mr. Hulin was born June 24, 1928, the son of the late John and Vivalee Nelson Hulin. He was a retired poultry farmer and was a talented upholsterer working for many years in High Point. He enjoyed doing carpentry, stone masonry and loved painting nature scenes. Mr. Hulin was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served from 1946-1950. In addition to his parents, Mr. Hulin was preceded in death by his wife, Lillie Hulin,and his sisters, Yvonne Saunders and Jackie Hulin. Survivors include his daughter, Debbie Leonard, of Asheboro; sons, John Hulin and wife, Vicki, Victor Hulin, all of Asheboro; brother, Jesse Hulin, of Asheboro; grandchildren, Alison Grein, Melissa Coble, Lauren Kahle, Stacie Hulin Luther; great-grandchildren, Chloe, Nolan, Brantley, Clara, and Lillabeth. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., prior to the service at Bethel Friends Meeting. Memorials may be made to Bethel Friends Meeting, 2519 Bethel Friends Road, Asheboro, NC 27205.
