Dell Montel

Mr. Delbert Dean "Dell" Montel, 87, of Asheboro, NC, died Friday, December 30, 2011, at Hinkle Hospice House. A funeral service is scheduled for 11:00 am Monday, January 2, 2012, at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Daniel Downing officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Hermon United Methodist Church Cemetery in Graham, NC. A native of Wabash County, IN, Mr. Montel was born January 17, 1924. He was the son of the late Albert Montel and Bertha Mary Miller Montel. Mr. Montel was a famer and served as a missionary. He married Beulah Stiver on December 14, 1947. In addition to his parents, Mr. Montel was preceded in death by his son, Jay Dean Montel, his sister, Grace Albright, and his brothers, Joe Montel, Everett Montel, Ray Montel, Max Montel and Albert Montel, Jr. Mr. Montel is survived by his daughters, Martha Studebaker and husband, Kevin, Esther Shelley and husband, Lanny, all of Lexington, NC; sons, Steven Montel and wife, Karolyn, of Saxapahaw, NC, David Montel and wife, Sharon, of Liberty, NC, sister, Lois Gearhart, of Claypool, IN; brother, Wayne Montel, of North Manchester, IN; grandchildren, James Montel and wife, Sherrill, Juanita VanAusdal and husband, Greg, Mark Montel and wife, Krista, Kevin Studebaker, Jr., and wife, Christina, Melissa McGuire and husband, Jared, David Shelley, Kara Gordon and husband, Alan, LaNae Shelley, Pvt. Brandon Studebaker, Christopher Montel, Nicholas Studebaker, Elizabeth Montel; great grandchildren, Lyberty Montel, Jeffery Gordon, Preston VanAusdal, Gavan Gordon, Logun Montel, Dylan VanAusdal, Christianna Studebaker, Landon Gordon and Lillian Studebaker. The family will receive friends from 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm Sunday, January 1, 2012, at Ridge Funeral Home.
