David C. Pike

Mr. David Carleton Pike, 90, of Asheboro, NC, passed away Tuesday, August 9, 2011, at Randolph Hospice House. At his request, no funeral services are scheduled. He was born and raised in northern New Hampshire and was an active member of Littleton High School class of '38. This class maintained their special relationship for many years. In July of 1939, he joined the US Navy and spent 2 ½ years at sea, 2 years in the OSS and 17 months in the pilot training program. He was discharged in September 1945. In October 1945, he was married to Norma Thompson of Roanoke, VA. He graduated from the University of New Hampshire in 1949. The long and very pleasant marriage was spent in Asheboro, NC. The first 20 years of his retirement were spent traveling throughout 48 states and Canada. In addition to his parents, Mr. Pike was preceded in death by his grandson, Joshua M. Newton, brothers, Gilbert Pike and Elbridge Pike, and sisters, Rachel Pike and Deborah Strong. Mr. Pike, in addition to his wife of 65 years, is survived by his three children, Donald F. Pike, of Covina, CA., Deborah P. Newton and husband, Eric, of Asheboro, NC, David N. Pike and wife, Cindy, of Tupelo, MS; four grandchildren, Jonathan Newton, Jeremy Newton, Jesse Newton, Megan Pike; and five great grandchildren. Mrs. Pike will be at her residence at Cross Road Rest and Retirement Community. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Randolph County, PO Box 9, Asheboro, NC 27204. The family would like to thank all the caregivers and the staff of Hospice of Randolph for their help.
