David Columbus Lucas, 97, of Greensboro, died Saturday, December 24 at Hospice Home at High Point in High Point. Graveside services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Friday, December 30, 2016, at Lucas Family Cemetery, Seagrove with Rev. Barry Wall officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Randolph County Honor Guard. Born in Randolph County, NC on April 28, 1919, Mr. Lucas was the son of the late John Sylvester Lucas and Louella Russell Lucas. He was retired from Clegg Pritchard Construction Company. He served in the US Army during World War II. Mr. Lucas was a member of the Sanctuary House that Faith Built in Greensboro. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Pearl C. Lucas. Mrs. Lucas is survived by his daughter, Ruth Warwick of Greensboro; son, Eugene Lucas and wife, Sandra of Asheboro; grandchildren, Travis Lucas and wife, Michelle of Seagrove, Randy Lucas and wife, Allison of Seagrove, Gene Warwick and wife, Sonia of Colfax, Karen Makowski and Stan of Greensboro; great-grandchildren, Christopher Lucas, Katelyn Lucas, Della Warwick, Gabriel Warwick, Caleb Smith, Levi Lucas and Logan Lucas. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, December 29, 2016 at Ridge Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Randolph County Honor Guard, PO Box 1672, Asheboro, NC 27204.
