David L. Bruton

David Leroy Bruton, 79, of Asheboro, died Monday, April 17, 2017 at his home. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 21, 2017, at Charlotte United Methodist Church with Pastor Tommy Robertson and Pastor Ricky Sessoms officiating. Burial will follow at Randolph Memorial Park with military honors provided by the Randolph County Honor Guard. Born March 26, 1938 in Randolph County, Mr. Bruton was the son of the late Winfred and Frances McCain Bruton. He was a member of Charlotte United Methodist Church. He retired from Coca-Cola/Canteen Corp., he then worked part-time at the NC Zoo. Mr. Bruton was also a former Asheboro Police officer and he served in the U.S. Army. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Mabel Bruton Petty. Mr. Bruton is survived by his wife, Betty Peele Bruton of the home; daughter, Tara Bruton Scalf of Castle Haynes; stepdaughters, Kristie L. Rich and husband, Randy of Sophia, Denise Warren and husband, Greg of LIberty; sister, Shirley Wright and husband, Keith of Mexico; three grandchildren; and seven step grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.Thursday, April 20, 2017 at Ridge Funeral Home and other times at the home.
