Darrell Lyn Williams

Mr. Darrell Lyn Williams, 65, of Asheboro, NC, died Monday, August 5, 2013, at W. G. (Bill) Hefner VA Medical Center. A funeral service is scheduled for 4:00 pm Thursday, August 8, 2013, in the Ridge Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Boyd Byerly officiating. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery in Asheboro. Military honors will be provided by the Randolph County Honor Guard. A native of Randolph County, NC, Mr. Williams was born June 4, 1948. He was the son of the late George Bundy Williams, Jr. and Dorothy Zimmerman Williams. Mr. Williams served in the US Army during Vietnam. He received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Bronze Star, and the Good Conduct Medal. He was a loving husband, dad, and grandpa, attended Sunset Avenue Church of God, and loved old cars. Mr. Williams is survived by his wife, Judy Tilley Williams, of the home; daughter, Crystal Heiser and husband, Thomas, of Howell, NJ; sons, Danny Williams and wife Gina, Steven Williams and wife Krystal, both of Asheboro, NC, Scott Weldon Tilley and special friend, Bob Schmehl, of Gastonia, NC; brother, Eddie Williams, of Supply, NC; grandchildren, Thomas Heiser, Jr, Michael Heiser, Luke Williams; and step granddaughter, Maggie Shelton. The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm Thursday, August 8, 2013, at Ridge Funeral Home and other times at the home.
