Darrell Lee Hicks, 83, of Franklinville, passed away on Monday, August 3, 2026, at his home.

Born on July 5, 1943, in Randolph County, North Carolina, Darrell was the son of the late Calvin Sylvester Hicks and Callie Mae Kearn Hicks. A hardworking and devoted man, Darrell found his greatest joys in the simple pleasures of life. He loved spending time fishing, making trips to the mountains, and relaxing in his rocking chair on the porch while watching the deer. Above all, Darrell treasured his family, especially his grandchildren. He also shared a special bond with his faithful dog, Sam.

In addition to his parents, Darrell was preceded in death by his wife, Melanie Hicks; brother, Richard Hicks; and grandson, Kevin Hicks.

Surviving are his sons, Calvin Hicks, Anthony Hicks (Marie) Richard Hicks; sister, Faye Joyner (Kenneth); 10 grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
