William Darrell Albertson, 86, formerly of Archdale, passed away Friday, July 12, 2013 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem. He was born on Nov. 6, 1926 to William Ernest and Lauretta MacCauley Albertson. He grew up in High Point, where he met and married his wife, Inez Venable Albertson, in 1947, and worked in textile and furniture industries. He had a quiet, adventurous spirit and was blessed with a large family, who loved him very much. He is survived by two daughters, Dana Lanning (Larry) of Kinston; Karen McNeely (Mike) of Asheboro; four grandsons, Brian Lanning (Julie), Chris Lanning, Ben McNeely and Thomas McNeely; and four great-grandchildren, Courtney, Hunter, Briley, and Brody Lanning; a brother, Ralph Thurman Albertson of Thomasville; and a sister, Lauretta Hunt of Winterville. In addition to his parents and his wife, an infant son, grandson Kevin Lanning, one brother and three sisters precede him in death. Memorial service will be Saturday, July 20, 2013, at First Presbyterian Church in Asheboro at 2 p.m., officiated by the Rev. Brian Gawf. The family will receive friends at the church an hour before the service. Burial will be at Floral Garden Park in High Point in a private graveside service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be to the First Presbyterian Church Endowment Fund, 420 W. Walker Ave, Asheboro, NC 27203.
