Darlene Kindley Smith

September 1, 1940 — May 18, 2025

On May 18, 2025, heaven's gates opened for Darlene Kindley Smith at her home surrounded by her family.

Graveside services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, May 22, 2025, at Bethel Friends Meeting Cemetery, Asheboro, with Pastor John Gunter and Pastor Ricky Sessoms officiating.

Born September 1, 1940, in Randolph County, NC, Darlene was the daughter of the late Armal Thomas Kindley and Wilma Rush Kindley. She was a graduate of Farmer High School and was a retired bookkeeper at Pugh Oil Company.

Spending time with her husband and family brought Darlene great joy. She was very proud to be part of one of the seven Kindley sisters, a tight knit group. You could always find her looking for ways to help others without expecting anything in return. She was always there when you needed her. She loved growing flowers, watching birds, and enjoying the beauty of nature.

She had fought a hard battle with dementia for several years. As it got progressively worse though, she never lost that smile. She was a ray of sunshine to all and a beacon of love, faith, and joy. Darlene was love at its purest, and she was always selfless. Life could not deal her a pain so severe that she could not be there for her loved ones or put others first. She is now in heaven with the love of her life, Bob, and all of her other loved ones. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Thomas Ray Kindley.

Survivors include her daughter, Dedie Weaver; son, Darin Smith (Kimberly); sisters, Beatrice Pierce, Nelia Ann Kennedy, Voncil Bescher, Reba Grubb (Ronnie), Wanda Teague (JT), Jane Yates; sister-in-law, Margaret Kindley; grandchildren, Aaron Weaver, Allison Weaver, Tanner Smith, and Curtis Smith.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at Ridge Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to Gentiva Hospice, 533 S. Fayetteville Street, Asheboro, NC 27203; or the Randolph County Fire Department of your choice.
