Dariel "Red" Barnhart

August 23, 1930 — July 29, 2014

Mr. Dariel Edmund Barnhart, 83, of Randleman, NC, died Tuesday, July 29, 2014, at The Randolph Hospice House. A memorial service is scheduled for 7:00 pm Friday, August 1, 2014, at Greater Covenant Church, 1406 Piedmont Drive, Lexington with Pastor Randy Martin officiating. A native of Montrose, PA, Mr. Barnhart was born August 23, 1930. He was the son of the late Bernard John Barnhart and Lillian Eleanor Barnhart. Over the years, one of Mr. Barnhart's greatest passions was setting up at various flea markets. Most recently he was the "Ice cream & coffee man" at the Highway 311 flea market, where he was affectionately known as "Pops". Before his career as a heavy equipment mechanic, he served in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict, as the last "Damage Control Carpenter". Mr. Barnhart is survived by his wife of 58 years, Beverly Rice Barnhart; daughter, Connie Jones and husband, Calvin, of Asheboro, NC; sons, Kevin Barnhart, of Los Angeles, CA, Dale Barnhart and wife, Stephanie, of Thomasville, NC; brother, Glenn Barnhart, of Conklin, NY; grandchildren, Christopher Jones, Stephen Barnhart, Christian Barnhart, James Michel Barnhart, Savannah Jones and a large extended family. The family will receive friends following the service. Memorial contributions may be made to Wounded Warriors Project, 4200 Morganton Road, Suite 300, Fayetteville, NC 28314.
