Daphne Beane Saunders, 98, of Asheboro, NC, passed away Friday, January 5, 2018 at Clapp's Convalescent Nursing Home in Asheboro. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m., Monday, January 8, 2018, at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel, Asheboro, with Rev. Robert Armstrong and Rev. Mark Beane officiating. Entombment will follow at Randolph Memorial Park. Born July 18, 1919 in Randolph County, NC, Mrs. Saunders was the daughter of the late T. J. and Malissie Staley Beane. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Saunders was preceded in death by her sisters, Stacey Thomas, Youda Brady, Swannie Bost, Norvia Poole, Jewel Scott; brothers, Herbert Beane, Lonnie Beane and Hansel Beane. She had worked at Acme-McCrary for many years and had been the co-owner of Asheboro Florist. She enjoyed flower arranging and art painting. She loved traveling and did many mission trips. Mrs. Saunders was a long time member of Central Wesleyan Church where she had been a Sunday School teacher, and was a devoted mother and grandmother. Survivors include her daughter, Shirley Black Poe and husband, V. E. Poe, Jr., of Asheboro; grandchild, Alisa Thompson and husband, Paul, of Asheboro; sister, Fern Miller of Asheboro; and special niece, Ann Miller, of Asheboro. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., Monday, January 8, 2017 at Ridge Funeral Home, and other times at the home.
