Danny Hardister

George Daniel "Danny" Hardister, 71, of Troy, died Wednesday, February 14, 2018 at his residence. Memorial services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 17, 2017, at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel. Military honors will be provided by the Randolph County Honor Guard. A native of Wilmington, NC, Mr. Hardister was born October 21, 1946, the son of the late Edward and Mary Frances Hedrick Hardister. He had retired from Rite Aid and had worked at the Asheboro Police Department and as a substitute teacher. He was an avid Duke fan, a farmer and loved to garden. He was a collector of many unique things, enjoyed watching movies, especially westerns, Lord of the Rings and Walker, Texas Ranger, and loved spending time with his family and friends. Mr. Hardister was US Army veteran having served in the Vietnam War. Survivors include his wife, Ellie Hardister, of the home; daughters, Teresa Carawan, of Randleman, Angie Zimmern, of Charlotte; step daughters, Amy Lounsbury, of Lexington, Crystal Gladden, of Randleman; step son, James Bailey, of Asheboro; sister, Camille Williams, of Archdale; twelve grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and his best fur baby, "Chuck." The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Saturday at Ridge Funeral Home, prior to the service.
