D. J. Boyles

Derry Jenkins "D.J." Boyles, Jr., 78, of Sophia, NC, died Thursday, May 25, 2017 at Hinkle Hospice House in Lexington. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m., Sunday, May 28, 2017, in the Ridge Funeral Home Chapel, Asheboro. Officiating will be Rev. Derrick Britt, Rev. Frankie Royal and Rev. Tony Fletcher. Burial will follow at Randolph Memorial Park with military honors provided by the Randolph County Honor Guard. A native of Randolph County, NC, Mr. Boyles was born May 25, 1939, the son of the late Derry Jenkins Boyles, Sr., and Lula Mae Reaves Boyles. He had attended Seagrove High School and Old Fashion Baptist Church. He was retired from MGM Transport of High Point. Mr. Boyles was a veteran having served in the U.S. Navy. In addition to his parents, Mr. Boyles was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Laughridge Boyles, daughter, Sally Diane McLeod, grandson, Jason Dubbs, sisters, Mozelle Nance, Louise Carter, and brother, Paul Boyles. Survivors include his sons, Tracy Boyles of Farmer, Greg Boyles of Asheboro, stepson, Bobby Len Taylor and family, of Boone; grandchildren, Travis Boyles, Tricia Boyles and Kendall Boyles. The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. to 1:45 p.m., Sunday, May 28, 2017 at Ridge Funeral Home.
