Cora Varner Maness

Mrs. Cora Myrtle Varner Maness, 88, of Seagrove, NC, died Tuesday, August 19, 2014, at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital. A funeral service is scheduled for 11:00 am Thursday, August 21, 2014, at Cedar Grove Baptist Church with Pastor Marty Grainger officiating. Burial will follow at Whynot Cemetery in Seagrove. A native of Randolph County, NC, Mrs. Maness was born December 16, 1925. She was the daughter of the late Franklin Harrison Varner and Daisy Davidson Varner. She was also a longtime member of First Baptist Church in Seagrove and a member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church. She was a homemaker and loved her family and church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband, Dennie O. Maness, and her brothers, Andy Varner Howard Varner, Frank Varner, Everette Varner, and her sister, Hazel Cooper. Mrs. Maness is survived by her daughter, Denise Brewer and husband, Wayne, of Asheboro, NC; son, Alan Maness and wife, Ginger, of Charlotte, NC; grandchildren, Luke Maness, Ryan Zudonyi; great grandchildren, McKenzie, Alana and Michael. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm Wednesday, August 20, 2014, at Ridge Funeral Home and other times at the home of Denise and Wayne Brewer.
