Cora Jean (Donato) Alexander, age 63, ofAsheboro, NC died, Sunday, August 17, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones, in her home.

She was born August 6, 1962 in Warren, Pennsylvanian, the daughter of Joseph James and Genevieve Elaine (Jean Johnson) Donato. She grew up in Ormsby, PA where she attended school at Smethport Junior/Senior High School.  She moved to Wilson, North Carolina in July of 1979 where she graduated from Fike Senior Hight School in 1980.  On February 22, 1980 in Fort Sill, Oklahoma, she married Christian (Chris) Alexander where they spent the next 45 years in NC building their lives together.

Cora attended Wilson Community Technical College where she studied Business Administration with a minor in accounting.  She worked for a few different organizations, but spent the majority of her time as a Business/Finance Manager and Bookkeeper. Her last job was with a close friend who owned and operated her own CPA Firm. Cora handled about 30 clients monthly. Cora had to leave that job because her husband landed a job he couldn't refuse.  With in 6 months after their move, Cora was diagnosed with Cancer.  Her and her families' lives were change forever then. Cora endured 5 more major cancers over the next 25 years to learn that there was nothing else they could do for her. She commented that without all of them that stayed by her side, she didn’t know how she would have made it as long as she did, along with knowing that the Lord was always by her side.  So, she lived, loved, worked some and enjoyed her family and friends and lived life and enjoyed as much a she could up till the end.

She is survived by her husband, Christian "Chris" Alexander of Asheboro, NC; one son, Christian Alexander, Jr and his wife Lauren; three grandsons, Christian Ashley Alexander III, Jeremiah Jay Alexander and Eli James Alexander of Salisbury, NC; two sisters, Rosemarie (Chet) Sanders of Madison, Alabama and Diana (Bob) Carnegie of Bradford, PA; one brother, Douglas (Sue) Johnson of Oil City, PA; two half-sisters, Beverly Taylor and Ann Wyer; three half-brothers. Fred, Frank and Danny Donato along with several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two half-sisters, Glory Barns and Gladys Hannah and two-half brothers, James and Tony Donato.

Cora’s grandsons were the light of her world and were her absolute joy! She would call the boys “Her Sunshine”! Cora told and sang to them often that “You Are My Sunshine! She loved her family and friends with her whole heart and she cherished every moment she was able to be with them or talk to them. Cora also loved all of her dogs over the years and spoiled them rotten.  She looked upon them as family and had a love for nature. She enjoyed feeding her deer and watching them.  She loved all God’s creations, except snakes, but especially loved her deer.
