Mr. Coolidge Armstrong, the son of the late Charles and Nancy Rush Armstrong, was born in Montgomery County, North Carolina on September 16, 1925, and he departed his life on October 24, 2010. He served in the United States Army, and after honorable discharge, he worked for Commonwealth Hosiery Mill until his health declined. His greatest joys were fishing, hunting, gardening, and watching western movies. He loved spending time with his family and friends. Preceding Mr. Armstrong in death were his beloved wife, Ruby Tanner Armstrong, daughter, Nancy Lee Armstrong, and son-in-law, Bennie Banks, Jr. He leaves to cherish memories, two daughters, Susie Armstrong Banks, of Sophia, NC, Peggy Armstrong, of Randleman, NC; three sons, Michael Armstrong (Mabel), of Sophia, NC, James Armstrong, of Greensboro, NC, Kenneth Armstrong (Valerie), of Asheboro, NC; two sisters, Dorothy Baldwin, of Troy, NC, Josephine Baldwin, of Candor, NC; one brother, Ray Armstrong, of High Point, NC; seven grandchildren, Rana Armstrong, of Greensboro, NC, Angela Banks Dula (Anthony), of Asheboro, NC, Cornelius Armstrong (Emily), of Seagrove, NC, Alan Banks, of Sophia, NC, Haven Armstrong, of Greensboro, NC, Kendrick and Kendall, of Asheboro, NC; four great-grandchildren, Ashanti and Aaleijah Dula, of Asheboro, Nehemiah Armstrong, of Seagrove, NC, Naylen Armstrong, of Greensboro, NC, and host of nieces and nephews. A funeral service is scheduled for 3:00 pm Thursday, October 28, 2010, at Greater St. John's Baptist Church with Rev. Joseph F. Kearns officiating. Interment will be at 11:00 am on Friday, October 29, 2010, at Salisbury National Cemetery in Salisbury. The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm Thursday, October 28, 2010, at Greater St. John's Baptist Church. At other times, the family will be at the home.
