Mr. James Cleo "Shorty" Boling, 68, of New London, NC, died Thursday, October 20, 2011, at his residence. A funeral service is scheduled for 11:00 am Monday, October 24, 2011, at Caraway Baptist Church with Pastor Jim Honeycutt officiating and a special prayer by Pastor Craig Asbill. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Military honors will be provided by the Randolph County Honor Guard. A native of Randolph County, NC, Mr. Boling was born February 1, 1943. He was the son of the late George Howard Boling and Emma Martha Vickery Boling. He retired from Estes Express after 35 years of service. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, spending time at the lake and loved his grandchildren. He never met a stranger. He was an animal lover and especially loved the Lord. Mr. Boling served in the US Army during Vietnam. Mr. Boling is survived by his wife, Rita Boling, of the home; daughter, April Boling Williams, and Darren, of Asheboro, NC; sons, Donald Wayne Boling, and wife Sarah, of Randleman, NC, Jeffrey Scott Boling, and wife Melanie, of Seagrove, NC; sisters, Yvonne Deaton, Janice Brown, both of Randleman, NC; brothers, Donald Boling, of Asheboro, NC, Charles Boling, of Randleman, NC; grandchildren, Nikki Boling, Travis Pearce, Samantha Williams, Katie Boling, Justin Boling, Alex Boling, Zane Boling, Amber Murphy. The family will receive friends from 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm Sunday, October 23, 2011, at Ridge Funeral Home and other time at the home of his son, 113 White Street, Randleman, NC.
