Clayson Winburn Cox, 98, of Asheboro, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 23, 2021 at The Randolph Hospice House in Asheboro. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Sunday, at Neighbors Grove Wesleyan Church with Dr. Brent Tysinger officiating. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery. Clayson was born May 27, 1923, in Randolph Co., NC, and was the son of the late John Henry Cox and Pearl Mae Spoon Cox. Clayson's life was a living testimony for the love he had for his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He was a loving dad, grandfather, and great grandfather. Clayson was a member of Rushwood Church and sang in the choir for more than 50 years. He was employed at Acme-McCrary for over 40 years. Working in the yard and watching the flowers bloom in the Spring were his favorite hobbies. Mr. Cox served in the US Army during World War II. In addition to his parents, Mr. Cox was preceded in death by his loving wife of 47 years, Helen Pugh Cox; sisters, Gladys Cox, Noneieve Craven; brothers, Clarence Cox and Clyde Cox. Clayson is survived by his daughter, Helena Deese (Ronnie) of Asheboro; son, Dale Cox (Donna) of Cullowhee, NC; grandchildren, Melissa Brady (Mark) of Ramseur, Matthew Leonard (Emily) of Asheboro; and one great grandchild. The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Saturday at Ridge Funeral Home. The family would like to extend a special thank you to all the staff at Hospice of Randolph for their excellent care of Mr. Cox.
