Clara Cox

Clara Evelyn Peterson Cox, 90, of Asheboro, died Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at The Randolph Hospice House in Asheboro. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Monday, April 23, 2018, at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel with Bishop J. Harold Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Randolph Memorial Park. Born April 6, 1928 in Newport News, VA, Mrs. Cox was the daughter of the late Herbert and Mary Peterson. She was a member at First Baptist Church, where she worked at the nursery for over 40 years. Mrs. Cox loved working with her family. She enjoyed working in the garden and loved to cook. Mrs. Cox and her husband loved to travel and spend time at their home in Florida. They enjoyed the many friendships they made through their travels. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Cox; and brother, Ashton Peterson. Survivors include her daughter, Linda Cox Hipps and husband, Jon of High Point; son, Herbert C. Cox and wife, Dawn of Asheboro; grandchildren, Scott Campbell and wife, Cindy, Melanie Witek and husband, Steve, Brandon Cox and wife, Allison, John Bremer, Lauren Watkins, Leslee Walser and husband, Taylor; sister-in-law, Ola Peterson of Hampton, VA; 16 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 p.m. Monday at Ridge Funeral Home, prior to the service. Memorials may be made to Randolph SPCA, 300 W. Bailey Street, Asheboro, NC 27203.
