Rev. Clyde Joseph "C.J." York, Jr., 70, of Asheboro, died Tuesday, December 4, 2018 at Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 8, 2018, at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Junior Dawkins officiating. Burial will follow at Randolph Memorial Park, with military honors provided by the Randolph County Honor Guard. A native of Randolph Co., NC, Rev. York was born April 22, 1948, the son of the late Clyde and Bertha Newell York. He was a graduate of Asheboro High School and retired from AVS Catering. He sang in The Hymnsmen Quartet for 35 years and served as an associate minister at Worthville Baptist Church. He was known for his preaching, singing and his work as an artist. Rev. York served in the US Army during the Vietnam War. In addition to his parents, Rev. York was preceded in death by his brother, Danny York. Survivors include his wife, Lillie York, of the home; daughters, Stephanie York, Sarah York, both of Asheboro; son, Michael York and wife, Rebecca, of Elizabethtown, KY; grandchildren, Kaitlyn York, Justin Fulton, Bethany York, Madison Fulton, Braylon York; great grandson, Damari Gilchrist. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, December 7, 2108, at Ridge Funeral Home and other times at the home of his niece, Tonya Fagge.
