Charlotte Matthews Spinks of Ramseur, NC peacefully took her last breath and passed away at Hospice House of Asheboro on June 20, 2019. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Monday, June 24, 2019, at Piney Ridge United Methodist Church with Rev. Rodney Foxx officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. She was born in Randolph County, NC to the late Mary Madeline Matthews and Oland Matthews. She was the youngest child of eight siblings. Charlotte attended elementary and middle school at Coleridge, and graduated from Southwestern Randolph High School in 1973. Post high school, Charlotte embarked on a career in manufacturing and was a dedicated and hard worker. She was employed by Ramseur Interlock for 15 years and Teleflex for 30 years where she worked as an expert handler of materials. Charlotte had an exemplary work ethic and was friendly to all that she met. Charlotte was loved by so many family members, friends, and work colleagues. Her smile and positive spirit instantly lit up the room. She was the life of the party and a beacon of strength in her family. She easily made friends and many turned to her for advice or encouragement. Her favorite sayings were "well good gracious" and "It will be alright." Charlotte was known for her spunk, stylish outfits, and her Hatitude- which was highlighted in the local newspaper. Charlotte married Roger Spinks and shared 44 amazing years together with the love of her life. They made their home in Ramseur, NC and enjoyed many wonderful life moments over the years. Charlotte and Roger had two daughters, Nichole and Ciera. Charlotte was an incredible mother who deeply loved her girls and was a phenomenal role model of strength, grace, and perseverance. She was dearly loved and adored by her children who will always be grateful for their beloved mother and her wisdom. Charlotte was a caring nana, compassionate sister, and a loyal friend. She loved her grand-babies, Samaria and Vincent, and made sure they received everything they needed. Charlotte loved to travel and enjoyed fun vacation trips and family gatherings. She especially enjoyed watching Lifetime, western movies and basketball. Charlotte was a faithful member of Piney Ridge Methodist Church and served as President of the Gospel Choir, Trustee Board Member, Lay Speaker, Leader, Financial Secretary, Pastor Parish, member of Nomination of Personnel, member of Administration Council, United Methodist Women and a member of the choir. She loved attending choir anniversaries and gospel programs. Charlotte was blessed with a beautiful voice and brought joy to all those that heard her sing. Some of Charlotte's favorite singing groups included New Creation, Price Family, and Doc McKenzie. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Spinks was preceded in death by her sister, Ruth Matthews, and brother, Rayvon Matthews. Charlotte leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, Roger Spinks, two daughters, Nichole Spinks and Ciera Spinks, and three grandchildren, Samaria, Vincent, and Baby Legend to be born this fall. She also leaves to cherish her memory a host of family including: two sisters, Sadie Roper (Charles) and Fern Pullen; three brothers, Samuel Matthews, Lonnie Wayne Matthews (Zula), and Royvestal Matthews; a host of nieces and nephews (Steve Matthews, Jeff Matthews, Annette Matthews, Michael Matthews, Keith Roper, Bridgette Roper, Cheryl Williams, Sharon Tyson, Lisa P. Davis, Sammy Matthews, Tanya Dustin, Oland Matthews, Timothy Matthews, Lisa Walters, Angie Matthews, Rachel Matthews, Michelle Rorie), as well as many other relatives, extended family, and friends. The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 23, 2019, at Ridge Funeral Home, and other times at the home.
