Charles Dwain Trotter, 72, of Holden Beach, died Saturday, January 14, 2017 at New Hanover Medical Center in Wilmington. Graveside services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 18, 2017, at Smyrna Grove Community Church Cemetery with Rev. Russell Edwards and Rev. Darrell Summey officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Randolph County Honor Guard. Born July 8, 1944 in Randolph County, Mr. Trotter was the son of the late Reece and Ollie Trotter. He retired as Chief from the Rockingham Fire Department, was a former employee of Asheboro Fire Department and former Chief of Whiteville Fire Department. Mr. Trotter served in the U.S. Coast Guard during Vietnam. Mr. Trotter is survived by his wife, Pat Trotter of the home; children, Charles Dwain Trotter, Jr. of Charlotte, Deeanna Stevens of Calabash, Jenene Baxter of Asheboro, Blair Barkley and wife, Wendy of Whiteville, Traci Quinlan and husband, Joe of Lugoff, SC; sister, Janice Trotter Summey and husband, Dwayne of Asheboro; brothers, Donald Trotter and Ralph Trotter and wife, Debbie, all of Asheboro; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at Ridge Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Rockingham Fire Department, 231 S.
