Charles William Newlin, 80, of Asheboro, NC, died Saturday, July 11, 2015 at his residence. Memorial services will be held 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 15, 2015, at Science Hill Friends Meeting, Asheboro, where he was a life time member. Officiating will be Rev. Michael J. Fulp, Jr. Burial will follow in the meeting's cemetery with military honors provided by the Randolph County Honor Guard. Born August 3, 1934 in Guilford Co., NC, Mr. Newlin was the son of the late Orlin Charlie and Henrietta Lassiter Newlin. He was a graduate of Farmer High School and had attended Guilford College. He had worked in the milk industry for 41 years without ever missing a day of work. Charles was a loving husband, a great father and a wonderful grandfather. His grandkids were the light of his life. He loved watching them grow up and followed them around the country with the sporting events while never missing a game. He was an avid sports fan. He enjoyed gardening and sharing what he grew. He was a good man who sacrificed a lot for others, was well respected, very outgoing and had never met a stranger. Mr. Newlin had proudly served in the US Army where he was stationed in Germany. In addition to his parents, Mr. Newlin was preceded in death by his brother, David Newlin. Survivors include his wife, Ann Newlin, of the home; daughter, Karen Newlin, of Asheboro; son, Chip Newlin and wife, Maleah, of Asheboro; grandchildren, Evan Pugh, Anna Pugh, Braden Newlin, Braxton Newlin. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 14, 2015, at Ridge Funeral Home, and other times at the home.
