Carson William Shaw, 81, of Asheboro died Sunday, November 24, 2024 at Alpine Health and Rehabilitation after several years of declining health.
Carson was born in Asheboro on August 3, 1943 to his parents Worth and Sarah Boswell Shaw. He was a 1963 graduate of Asheboro High School, playing football under coach Lee J. Stone. He served in the U.S. Army, serving in Frankfort, Germany from 1965-1967. He attended Foster Street Wesleyan Church. His love for fishing was unfathomable, pouring his own worm molds and making spinner baits were his passion. Working as a long distance truck driver most of his life, he was better known by his trucking friends on the cb radio as “The Hungry Fisherman”. Carson was formerly employed with Coca Cola of Asheboro, Klopman Mills, and Carolina Pacific and later retired from VF Corporation, the parent company of Wrangler, Inc.
In addition to his parents, Carson is preceded in death by his sister, Anna Shaw Fallon; Brother, Odell Shaw, and Son in Law, Gregg "Spanky" Bunting.
A Celebration of Life service is planned for Sunday, December 8, 2024 in the Ridge Funeral Home Chapel, 908 Albemarle Rd., Asheboro at 2:00 PM with Rev. Charles Moses officiating. Burial will be at a later date at Oaklawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service.
He is survived by his wife, Elaine Woodell Shaw; Daughter, Sherry Shaw Bunting; Son, Mickey Shaw (Pam) of Asheboro; Grandchildren, Addie Shaw Wright (Carson) of Denton and Dillon Shaw (Tiffany Freeman) of Asheboro; Brother, Dennis Shaw (Pam) of Asheboro.
