Carson W. Bowden

Mr. Carson Walter Bowden, 70, of Asheboro, NC, died Wednesday, February 1, 2012, at Randolph Hospital. A funeral service is scheduled for 3:00 pm Sunday, February 5, 2012, at Greater St. John's Baptist Church with Rev. Joseph Kearns and Bishop Harold Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Asheboro. A native of Randolph County, NC, Mr. Bowden was born February 7, 1941. He was the son of the late Talmadge Walden and Marion Bowden. He was a member of Greater St. John's Baptist Church, where he was a member of the men's choir, a trustee, and a member of the men's laymen league. Mr. Bowden also served as a school crossing guard. He was preceded in death by his son, James Christopher Diggs; brother, Chris Jordan; and sister, Christine Smith. Mr. Bowden is survived by daughters, Ann McCormick and husband, Rev. George McCormick, of Asheboro, NC, Angela Coble, of Asheboro, NC, Valerie Bowden, of Asheboro, NC, Cynthia McNeill, of Fairburn, GA, Danielle Maness, of Asheboro, NC; sons, Jeffrey Bowden and wife, Rev. Michelle Bowden, of Asheboro, NC, Rev. Johnny Covington and wife, Gertrude, of Asheboro, NC, Jesse Dale, of Greensboro, NC; sisters, Pearlie Mae Rorie, Darlene Black, Quimillar Harris, Phyllis Hussain, Debra Sullivan; brothers, Dwaine Jordan, David Jordan; grandchildren, Sarah, Kiki, Jeffrey, Devin, Kristy, Tavia, Marquita, Brittany, LaToya, Adrionna, Jonathan, Tiffany, Jacob, Crystal, Ebony, Dante, Deon, Jireh, Kenneth, Jr., Sonya; and five great grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm Sunday, February 5, 2012, at the church and other times at the home of Angela Coble, 859 Lansdowne Road, Asheboro, NC 27203.
