Carolyn Stuart Spinks Wicker, 85, of Asheboro, died at her home after a extended illness on Monday, January 4, 2016. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 9, 2016, at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel. A private burial will be held at Oaklawn Cemetery. Mrs. Wicker was born September 26, 1930 in Morganton, NC to Clifton Groves Spinks and Nora Lambert Spinks. She was a graduate of Mars Hill College and attended Woman's College of the University of North Carolina (now UNCG). She and her husband lived many places in the state of North Carolina due to her husband's career with the NC State Highway Patrol. Over the years she raised a loving family and nurtured a home for her family in New Bern, Wendell, Southern Pines, Boone, Washington and finally Asheboro. She also held various jobs around the state including Clerk of Court for the city of Southern Pines and various bookkeeping/accounting jobs in Boone, Blowing Rock and Asheboro. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Wicker was preceded in death by her husband, F. Raymond "Ray" Wicker and brother, Jimmy Groves Spinks. She is survived by her son, Fredrick "Rick" Wicker, Jr., of Winston-Salem; her daughters, Lisa A. Wicker and Leslie W. Duncan, both of Asheboro; two grandsons, Patrick S. Duncan and Eric R. Duncan, both of Asheboro. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 1:45 p.m., Saturday, at Ridge Funeral Home, prior to the service.
