Carolyn Steele

Carolyn Norman Steele, 85, of Asheboro, went to her eternal home on Thursday, July 2, 2026.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Friday, July 10, 2026. at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel, 908 Albemarle Road, Asheboro, with Pastor Mark Wilburn officiating. Burial will be at Randolph Memorial Park.

Born on November 4, 1940, in Surry County, NC, Carolyn was the daughter of the late Elmer and Thira Evelyn Glass Norman. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and niece. She retired from Energizer after many years of service. Carolyn was a member of Bailey's Grove Baptist Church. She loved to laugh and tell jokes. Carolyn found good in everyone and she especially loved helping those who needed an extra push.

In addition to parents, Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband, William Steele; son, Craig Slate; daughter, Cynthia Huskey; brother, Ricky Norman; and sister, Judy Pettus.

Surviving are her daughter, Christina Steele of Asheboro; daughter-in-law, Susan Slate of Mt. Airy; grandsons, Gralyn Slate, Levi Slate (Courtney), Cody Slate (Hannah); granddaughter, Nicole Jarrell; great grandchildren, Maverick, Crew, William and Liam. She also leaves behind her dear brothers, Frank Norman (Pamela) and David Norman (Kim), and her uncles, Carl Norman and Tom Glass.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 10:45 a.m. on Friday, prior to the service at Ridge Funeral Home.

The family would like to thank the staff of Asheboro Rehabilitation and Healthcare, and Hospice of Randolph for their continuing care of Carolyn.
