A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 8, 2026, at New Center Christian Church with Pastor Bradley Morrison, Preacher Jimmy Shirlen, and Preacher Josh Adams officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Born in Caldwell County, NC, to Robert and Mildred Moses Summerlin on December 26, 1959, Carolyn’s family moved to Randolph County where she attended Randleman High School. In 1979 Carolyn married Vernon and they were blessed with 47 happy years together . While raising their children, Carolyn worked at Klaussner Furniture Industries and Goodyear Tire & Rubber. Carolyn was a faithful member of New Center Christian Church, where she served as Treasurer of the Ladies Fellowship for many years. She had a servant’s heart and could be found working at the church, many times behind the scenes, to ensure activities ran smoothly and the facility was left clean afterward. Outside of church, she enjoyed traveling with her husband and spending time with her grandchildren, and always had time for ice cream. Carolyn loved reading, completing puzzles, diamond art, playing Solitaire, and being in the company of one of her beloved boxers.
Left to cherish Carolyn’s memory are her husband, Vernon Brown, of the home; daughters Melissa Kidd (Ronnie) of Seagrove, and Amanda Pendleton (Graham) of Thomasville; son Brandon Brown (Daniela) of Eagle Springs, grandchildren: Ethan, Elijah, Ezra, and Melia Kidd, Abigail and Ava Brown, Bryson Callicutt, Savannah, Ryker, and Zane Pendleton; sister Sandy Rich of Sophia; brother Joel Summerlin of Randleman. Carolyn is preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Danny Summerlin and Robert Summerlin; and her in-laws Arlie and Jackie Brown.
The family will receive friends at Ridge Funeral Home from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, and other times at the home.
