Carole “Dolly” Lavery Weeks, 75, of Asheboro, North Carolina, passed away on December 7, 2020. Due to the pandemic, the family will have a small, private service at Ridge Funeral Home on Thursday, December 10, 2020. Dolly was born February 10, 1945 to James Albert and Nellie Virginia Little Lavery in Baltimore, Maryland. Dolly graduated from Hereford High School in 1962. In 1966, she graduated from Mars Hill College with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English. After graduating from Mars Hill, Dolly worked in Mecklenburg County schools for 3 years before settling in at Ramseur School in 1971. In 1976, she began teaching at Eastern Randolph High School where she retired from her teaching career of over 30 years. In 1986, she earned her Master’s Degree in English from North Carolina State University. Dolly also taught at Randolph Community College periodically during her career and worked at the Family Crisis Center in Asheboro, NC from 1993 through 2004. In 1968, she met and married Thomas Bealer “Bill” Weeks, Jr. The following year, she gave birth to a daughter. Though divorced in 1989, Dolly and Bill maintained a friendship until his passing on December 23, 2000. After retiring in 2002, Dolly was a substitute teacher at Asheboro City Schools and Randolph County Schools and volunteered her time at First United Methodist Church, as well as various animal rescue organizations. In 2006, Dolly was excited when her daughter Kristy married and the family immediately grew to include a grandson, Granger, who was 12. Later that year, she welcomed her granddaughter Emma. In 2007, Chip, Kristy, Granger and Emma moved back to Asheboro and Dolly devoted her time and love to the joys of having her daughter and newly expanded family close. Throughout her life, Dolly had great love for her family, teaching, animals and reading (especially Shakespeare!). She will be greatly missed. Dolly was predeceased by her parents, James Albert Lavery and Nellie Virginia (Little) Lavery. She is survived by daughter, Katherine “Kristy” Weeks Dobbins and favorite son-in-law Charles “Chip” Dobbins, grandchildren Granger Lambros Dobbins and Emma Grace Dobbins, brothers Christopher James Lavery, Sr. and David Herbert Lavery, nephews/niece Christopher James Lavery, Jr., Matthew David Lavery and Deanna Noel Lavery.
