Carol Hurley Efird, 88, of Asheboro, passed away on Monday, July 25, 2022, surrounded by family at Randolph Health. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 29, 2022, at Ridge Funeral Home, Asheboro, with Pastor Doug Hefner officiating. Burial will follow in Oaklawn cemetery. Born in Randolph County, NC on September 24, 1933, Carol was the daughter of the late Archie Raymond Hurley and Sarah Daniel Hurley. Carol was a hard worker and dedicated to her family and church, St. John’s Lutheran. She enjoyed reading, gardening and antiques. She loved her family and cherished the time she spent with her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, beloved nieces, nephews and many friends. In addition to her parents, Carol was preceded in death by her husband, Walter K. Efird; sister, Marjorie H. Cross; brother, Samuel Hurley; son, James Michael Cox; daughter, Nancy Griffin; granddaughters, Katie Raines and Kelly Poage Hale. Surviving are her children, Beth Efird Poage of Trinity, Candice Weiss of Asheboro, Bradley Cox (Lesia) of Denton; sisters, Olga Hogan of Fayetteville, Rozine Davis of Asheboro; brothers, Rex Hurley (Rebecca) of Asheboro, Wiley Hurley (Patricia) of Denton and best friend, Mary Efird of Asheboro; grandchildren, Chantel Weiss of California, Scott Weiss of California, Brian Weiss of Cary, Emily Taylor of Reston, VA, Brooke Voncannon (John) of Asheboro, Brett Cox (Kerrin) of Apex, Kevin Poage (Jennifer) of Rural Hall; 14 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Thursday, July 28, 2022, at Ridge Funeral Home and other times at Carol’s home.
